The School Counseling specialization prepares individuals for roles as counselors in elementary, middle, or high schools. This curriculum fulfills the qualifications for California's K-12 Pupil Personnel Services-School Counseling (PPS-SC) Credential. Participants gain skills to serve as vital contributors within educational teams, focusing on enhancing students' academic progress, social-emotional growth, and career preparation. Graduates develop leadership capabilities to coordinate with diverse education professionals, support staff, and community partners in designing, executing, and assessing programs that serve individual students and their surrounding support systems. Important Note: Sacramento State's PPS-SC Credential cannot be pursued independently - only candidates enrolled in the School Counseling graduate program qualify for this credential.
