Exploring American Studies as part of a dual degree program could be a valuable option. Students may share 12 credits between American Studies and another major, fulfilling requirements for both programs. Around 40% of American Studies students pursue this dual major path, frequently pairing it with Communications, History, or Political Science. At Cal State Fullerton, the American Studies department operates autonomously, focusing on the historical evolution of American culture. Our curriculum investigates both past and contemporary aspects of American society, empowering students to gain deeper insights into their personal experiences and the world around them. The program explores diverse themes including gender dynamics, ethnic and racial identities, regional distinctions, religious practices, social institutions, urban development, psychological well-being, societal values, and cultural analysis.
