The relationship between Latin America and the United States has long been shaped by interconnected people, political systems, economic ties, cultural exchanges, and shared environments. These deep-rooted bonds are expected to grow even stronger in our increasingly interconnected global landscape. Currently, the vibrant and expanding Latinx community makes up nearly one-fifth of America's population, with significant growth occurring in Southern, Midwestern, and Northeastern regions. Grasping the cultural viewpoints, linguistic nuances, and historical contexts of Latin America, the Caribbean, and Latinx communities has become essential for students entering fields like education, social services, healthcare, business, human resources, legal professions, and international affairs. As a cross-disciplinary initiative involving more than 20 faculty members across various academic departments, LACLS offers students adaptable coursework aligned with their passions while equipping them with diverse, practical competencies.
