To graduate with honors in anthropology, students must complete an honors thesis. However, submitting an honors thesis doesn't automatically result in honors graduation. If a thesis doesn't receive honors designation, the student's transcript will still reflect successful completion of a senior thesis. The anthropology honors program is a selective opportunity, with candidates chosen based on factors like academic standing, concentration grades, feasible research proposals, faculty advisor support, and approved project submissions. Applications for honors candidacy are due by the conclusion of the semester preceding thesis work - typically the sixth semester. Students studying abroad during their sixth semester may submit applications by the second week of the seventh semester.
