Anthropology examines humanity across time and cultures. The Anthropology Major equips students with globally-oriented analytical and innovative thinking abilities. At UGA, we emphasize ecological and environmental perspectives that bridge three core disciplines: archaeology, biological anthropology, and cultural anthropology. These interconnected fields develop unique competencies that, together, ready students for diverse professional paths in modern business, research, industry, and government sectors.

Our department breaks from conventional academic divisions between theoretical and practical research, instead immersing students in

current interdisciplinary initiatives tackling real-world challenges throughout their studies.

Our community participates in fieldwork across multiple continents - from Mexico and South America to Pacific Islands, Southeast Asia, East Africa, Western Europe, Canada, Southern Appalachia, and Georgia. We uphold rigorous fieldwork standards and maintain methodological precision in our anthropological investigations.
