For students who have obtained or will soon complete a bachelor's degree from a CSWE-accredited social work program, we provide an Advanced Standing Track at these locations:

Charles River Campus (Boston): Available in both full-time and part-time Advanced Standing formats
Off-Campus Locations: Part-time Advanced Standing offered at Fall River and Bedford campuses
Online Option: Part-time Advanced Standing available
This accelerated pathway requires applicants to hold an undergraduate social work degree from a CSWE-accredited program, completed within six years prior to enrollment. Admission requires a minimum 3.0 (B) undergraduate GPA.

Qualification Requirements

To apply for admission to any of our MSW programs, you must hold a baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university, or be enrolled in a course of study that will result in the award of a baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university before you begin your MSW studies.

BUSSW does not have a GPA requirement for Traditional or Human Service Experience track applicants. However, all Advanced Standing applicants are required to have a minimum GPA of 3.0.

Personal statement: 3-4 pages, double-spaced
Current resume or CV
Three references: One reference is required from a faculty member or advisor if you are currently in school, and/or from a supervisor if you are working
Transcripts: Transcripts should include all previous undergraduate and, if applicable, graduate academic institutions, including study abroad transcripts
Phone or Skype interview: May be required for Online Program and international student applicants

For the TOEFL, a minimum score of 577 is required on the paper-based test, a minimum score of 233 is required on the computer-based test, and a minimum score of 100 is required for the Internet-based test, with a minimum score requirement of 23 in each of the four sub-categories of the exam: speaking, listening, reading, and writing. For the IELTS, a minimum score of 7.0 is required.
