The Advanced Standing program offers face-to-face, hybrid, and online enrollment options. The in-person format is a full-time, one-year program (38 semester credits), starting in fall with coursework and field placements spanning two semesters. Hybrid and online students complete the program part-time over two years. All Advanced Standing students must complete two field practicum courses (500 clock hours). Program plans for each enrollment model can be found under their respective tabs.
Clinical Practice involves applying theories, techniques, skills, values, and ethical principles to improve cognitive, emotional, behavioral, and social functioning across individuals, families, and communities. This practice emphasizes leadership in advancing social justice while employing relationship-focused, culturally aware, and strength-based approaches. It encompasses biopsychosocial understanding and evidence-informed interventions, including (but not limited to) assessment, treatment, prevention, advocacy, counseling, supervision, and consultation.
Macro Practice equips students for leadership roles in urban environments serving diverse, at-risk populations. The curriculum develops skills for driving social change through community engagement, organizational work, and policy development. Students gain expertise for positions as advocates, managers, researchers, policy analysts, and capacity builders working across community, organizational, and societal levels.
