Founded through a partnership with culinary legends Jacques Pépin and Julia Child, Boston University's Metropolitan College (MET) offers a distinctive Master of Arts (MA) in Gastronomy program. This interdisciplinary curriculum bridges the arts, humanities, and both natural and social sciences. Participants explore food's significance across cultures and time periods through multiple lenses, preparing for diverse professional paths in media, public policy, business, and scholarly research.

The program's communication track provides in-depth study of food's representation across various media forms - from traditional print and broadcast to digital platforms and visual arts. Students develop strong writing and analytical skills while investigating historical and contemporary food narratives.
