The Master of Arts in Archaeology offers students a comprehensive foundation in archaeological studies while developing their research skills. This program explores diverse subjects such as archaeological theory, research methodologies, and material culture studies. Participants will engage in hands-on fieldwork, laboratory investigations, and collaborate with distinguished faculty on innovative research initiatives.
Program requirements: Candidates must successfully finish at least eight courses (32 credits). Core curriculum includes: Archaeological Theory, Ethics and Legal Aspects in Archaeology, Scientific Methods in Archaeology, Career Pathways in Archaeology, plus 4 credits of field/lab work or an external internship. All MA in Archaeology candidates must achieve graduate-level foreign language reading proficiency by their fourth semester. In their final term, students will produce a master's project involving significant research and scholarly writing.
Program objectives: Graduates will emerge with thorough knowledge of modern archaeological practices and analytical approaches. They'll master scientific examination methods while adhering to rigorous ethical standards. This preparation enables them to understand the discipline thoroughly, undertake autonomous research, and potentially advance archaeological scholarship through original contributions.
