Baylor University's Psychology graduate program is founded on the principle that psychological study forms the foundation for comprehending human nature. Ph.D. candidates are required to develop comprehensive knowledge and skills to function as autonomous researchers at the cutting edge of their discipline after completing their studies. The Ph.D. degree is granted to scholars who demonstrate exceptional academic achievement in their chosen specialization through self-directed learning, original research, and innovative thinking. The Psychology doctoral program offers three specialization areas: Behavioral Neuroscience, Social Psychology, and General Experimental Psychology. All doctoral students initially complete a series of foundational courses covering psychology's broad spectrum. Track differentiation emerges with specialized core coursework tailored to either Behavioral Neuroscience or Social Psychology. Following advancement to candidacy, students select from track-specific doctoral courses and electives to complete their degree requirements.
