The Counseling Psychology (CPSY) Program at the University of Oregon holds the distinction of being the 8th oldest continuously APA-accredited doctoral program in counseling psychology nationwide, maintaining accreditation since 1955. Our curriculum emphasizes preparing students for preventive and therapeutic work with individuals across the lifespan - from children and families to adults and communities - while fostering research expertise focused on diverse and marginalized groups.
Housed within the College of Education's Department of Counseling Psychology and Human Services, the CPSY program exists alongside several related academic offerings. These include an undergraduate Family and Human Services major, a Couples and Family Therapy graduate program, and Prevention Science graduate degrees. Throughout their studies, CPSY students engage in interdisciplinary coursework and research while mentoring undergraduates. The program maintains strong partnerships with the Ballmer Institute for Children's Behavioral Health in Portland, collaborating on initiatives to improve youth mental health outcomes regionally and nationally.
