The Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree is granted to students who successfully finish an accredited program in their chosen field while fulfilling both departmental and Graduate College criteria. This involves completing a minimum of 64 to 96 graduate credit hours, demonstrating proficiency in quantitative methods and specialized coursework, producing a master's thesis or equivalent, taking advanced courses and seminars in their focus area and related subjects, passing doctoral qualifying and preliminary oral exams, writing an approved Ph.D. dissertation, and successfully defending it in an oral examination. The University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign's Clinical-Community Psychology program follows a Clinical Science model, preparing students for research and professional careers with strong scientific foundations. The curriculum culminates in a Ph.D. degree upon completion.
