Get ready to teach students from kindergarten through 8th grade. This program combines academic studies with hands-on internships and teaching residencies, enabling you to earn your teaching certification upon completion and launch your career in this vital educational specialization. The Bachelor of Arts in Education (BAE) with a STEM focus (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) readies candidates for K-8 certification in Arizona. The curriculum is tailored for those seeking to enhance their STEM expertise while mastering effective teaching strategies.

This program provides future teachers with specialized STEM training to tackle complex problems and develop critical thinking abilities. Students gain comprehensive knowledge of STEM education terminology, cutting-edge research, and proven instructional methods.

The program incorporates substantial field experience to ensure graduates are classroom-ready. Participants will undertake internships before progressing to a full-time teaching residency. Mary Lou Fulton Teachers College offers a unique teacher preparation model featuring guided internships and residencies with mentorship from faculty and experienced educators. These practical experiences prepare graduates to collaborate with peers in meeting students' academic and emotional needs.
Upon completion, graduates receive ASU's recommendation for Arizona K-8 Elementary Education certification and a Structured English Immersion endorsement (preK-12) from the Arizona Department of Education. To teach in Arizona public schools, graduates must pass required certification exams: either the National Evaluation Series or Arizona Educator Proficiency Assessments.
