Western Michigan University's elementary education program offers curriculum and hands-on training for Michigan PK-3 and 3-6 teaching certification. Students in this program will study subjects like language arts, math, science, and social studies.
The WMU elementary education program features:
A supportive cohort system with dedicated guidance resources
Extensive classroom experience with PK-6 students in public schools
A part-time pre-internship involving two full days weekly with mentor teachers
A comprehensive full-time internship as your final teaching practicum
Creation of a digital portfolio showcasing professional skills and achievements
A first-year applicant is a student who is applying for admission and who has not attempted or earned any college credit after graduating from high school/secondary school (or earned equivalent).
Minimum English proficiency test scores:
Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL): 71 iBT
International English Language Testing System (IELTS) Academic: 6.0
Pearson Test of English, Academic Module (PTE): 48
Michigan English Test (MET): 48
