Core design principles, ethical foundations, and liberal arts education equip students for advanced coursework, where they connect with the profession through immersive experiences like field visits, office tours, networking functions, and internship placements. Our intensive studio program trains students to make significant contributions to architectural environments. Learners develop analytical reasoning and investigative abilities alongside design and technical competencies, preparing them for a dynamic professional landscape.
The NAAB-accredited Bachelor of Architecture (B. Arch) degree provides a licensure pathway recognized nationwide. This program meets all NAAB-prescribed educational standards and credit hour requirements.
Students can pursue two distinct B. Arch tracks: the traditional B. Arch or the innovative B. Arch IPAL (Integrated Path to Architectural Licensure). Academy of Art University stands as Northern California's sole architecture school offering the IPAL option.
The B. Arch IPAL program represents the most efficient route to licensure in participating states. Participants fulfill educational, experiential, and examination requirements concurrently by gaining professional experience and completing licensing tests during their studies. The program provides structured support for securing paid internships through dedicated coursework and faculty guidance.
