History surrounds us in everyday life. How we perceive and make sense of our past influences who we are, molds current realities, and guides what lies ahead. Our cross-disciplinary Public History program lets you examine history's societal role while acquiring practical heritage sector experience alongside advanced academic study.
You'll examine worldwide views on how the past connects with public life and assess their effects on contemporary communities. You'll investigate museums and heritage organizations' functions, and reflect on the public history efforts of curators, archivists, and scholars. Simultaneously, you'll study how historical interaction has transformed through emerging media formats, from cinema and television to digital platforms and immersive technologies. Additionally, you'll complete an insightful internship to develop your own public history initiative, honing essential professional skills.
