The MPhil/PhD in Medieval Studies enables you to conduct in-depth research on a subject of your choosing within medieval history, literature, or culture, allowing you to contribute new insights to academic discourse. Lincoln's rich medieval heritage creates the perfect environment for your studies, with access to extensive local resources including our active Medieval Studies Research Group.

Though your research will be primarily independent, you'll benefit from supervision by experts across diverse fields including British and European medieval history (particularly focusing on the Iberian Peninsula), gender studies, literary analysis, and investigations into social, political, economic, legal, religious, and cultural aspects of the medieval world, as well as archaeology, medievalism, and the history of emotions.
