If you're passionate about nature and eager to explore the living world, Ecology and Conservation might be your perfect fit.

This program immerses you in studying Earth's biodiversity across time, equipping you to tackle critical ecological challenges - from addressing environmental shifts to protecting endangered species. You'll be taught by leading ecologists engaged in worldwide discussions about evolutionary science, wildlife preservation, and sustainable ecosystems.

Beyond lectures, you can:

discover the South Downs National Park through nearby excursions
join expeditions to diverse locations including Wales, Devon, Yorkshire, Portugal, Southern Africa, the Red Sea, and Ecuador.
In your final Masters year, you'll hone specialized research abilities by collaborating with an Ecology team. This hands-on training prepares you for scientific investigation careers, as well as various opportunities in environmental fields and other sectors.

Subjects
A-levels must include Biology grade B. You will also need to pass the separate science practical assessment. If you are not able to take the science practical assessment, applications will be considered on a case-by-case basis.



GCSEs
You will normally need GCSE (or equivalent) Mathematics and two Science subjects with grade 5 in each (or grade B).

Extended Project Qualification
We take the EPQ into account when considering your application and it can be useful in the summer when your results are released if you have narrowly missed the conditions of your offer. We do not routinely include the EPQ in the conditions of your offer but we sometimes offer alternative conditions that include the EPQ.
