This program offers advanced research-focused study in Latin and Philosophy, enabling students to explore how knowledge is developed, expanded, and revitalized. It fosters independent learning among all participants, promoting curiosity, precision, academic integrity, and rigorous scholarship. Spanning 48 months, the curriculum leads to a Master of Arts (Honours) degree. Like all St Andrews programs, it consists of credit-based modules, requiring students to complete 480 credits total—typically 120 per academic year. The initial two years combine mandatory program-specific courses with elective options, which may include interdisciplinary Faculty offerings. Subsequent years focus on specialized, research-driven modules that deepen expertise in the chosen field. The first two years blend core disciplinary requirements with flexible electives (potentially from other Faculties), while later years emphasize advanced, program-tailored research learning.
