Our bioarchaeological research covers a broad timeline from the lower-Palaeolithic period through the early modern age, carried out by an active team of PhD candidates, post-doctoral fellows, and faculty members. Bioarchaeology has long been a key research strength at Sheffield. With seven faculty specialists in zooarchaeology, archaeobotany, human osteology, and palaeoanthropology, we've consistently offered popular short courses that frequently integrate multiple bioarchaeological disciplines. Our investigations range from the lower Palaeolithic to recent historical periods, enhanced by experimental approaches and ethnoarchaeological research.
