The Center for American Archaeology Studies supports the work of departmental archaeologists and their partners across all areas of American archaeology. It fosters graduate student involvement in Americanist research through interdisciplinary methods.
The Archaeology Department's research spans from early human history to modern times, emphasizing theory-driven fieldwork and pioneering methodologies.
Faculty and graduate researchers conduct studies across Britain, Europe, Asia, Africa, and the Americas, with the Department earning the UK's 3rd highest ranking for world-class research in the 2014 Research Excellence Framework.
