Our Archaeology PhD and Heritage PhD programs offer an exceptional chance to conduct thorough academic research in your chosen field, with expert guidance from specialized supervisors.
Bangor's Archaeology department benefits from its prime location surrounded by diverse historical sites - from ancient tombs and stone circles to Roman forts, medieval castles (including UNESCO World Heritage Sites like Beaumaris, Caernarfon, and Conwy), and industrial revolution remnants. Faculty research focuses on: Britain and Ireland's early prehistory, European and British Celtic Iron Age, the Western Atlantic region, medieval Wales and Ireland, and archaeology's historical development. Many staff members lead fieldwork projects across Wales and internationally. With support from knowledgeable supervisors, you'll develop a thesis that offers fresh insights to historical scholarship. Our goal is to help you evolve into an autonomous researcher.
