Numerous occasions exist to showcase your compositions or have them performed and recorded by fellow musicians, both on campus and throughout the city. Typically completed full-time in three years or part-time over six years (often with an extra year for final revisions, submission, and oral examination).

Evaluation consists of a composition portfolio totaling approximately 60 minutes and a 20,000-word supporting analysis.

Various elective courses can be selected in coordination with your advisory team, including music-focused options as well as modules designed to enhance research capabilities.

Qualification Requirements

Masters degree in a relevant subject or equivalent research experience. If your Masters is in a subject other than music you must demonstrate a suitable level of aptitude. Provide three scores, with recordings if available. At least one work must be for a large ensemble. IELTS: 7.0 (no less than 6.0 in any element). TOEFL (IBT): 100 (minimum 20 in Speaking and 19 in all other elements).
