Our PhD/MPhil program in Drug Design, Development and Delivery allows you to pursue a research initiative aimed at advancing knowledge in pharmaceutical sciences. Graduate research in this field can explore innovative drug creation methods and cutting-edge delivery techniques. Interdisciplinary research opportunities encompass: Computational modeling and medicinal chemistry approaches for developing, synthesizing, testing, and administering new antimicrobial, antimalarial, anticancer, and anti-inflammatory medications. Creating advanced formulations to enhance drug stability (for stroke therapies), developing lipid nanoparticle carriers and novel excipients to optimize drug administration (for tuberculosis treatment), and facilitating blood-brain barrier penetration of anti-amyloid medications. We also investigate structural modifications of large biomolecules (including peptides, proteins, and plasmids) and employ image correlation spectroscopy to analyze delivery mechanisms. Additional research focuses on targeted liposome delivery to placental tissue and computational optimization of placental-targeting peptides. The program also involves designing innovative graphene-based drug delivery platforms.
