The PhD program spans three years (or six years for part-time students), culminating in a comprehensive thesis. As one of the UK's most extensive Computer Science departments, we explore a vast array of topics. Our department houses ten specialized research groups, from Advanced Processor Technologies to Text Mining. Beyond core Computer Science research, we foster interdisciplinary collaborations with fields like mathematics, physics, medicine, and biology. The University grants the Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree to candidates who successfully complete supervised research, demonstrating their ability to conduct scholarly work and contribute original knowledge. This research must be presented in a thesis or equivalent format, meeting standards suitable for peer-reviewed publication.
