Established in 1974, we rank among the UK's longest-running university computing departments, with a proven history of producing highly skilled graduates alongside a strong reputation for innovative research and industry collaboration.
Housed in the newly renovated Haslegrave Building following a multi-million pound upgrade, we're one of the largest departments in the School of Science, comprising a diverse community of over 40 faculty members, approximately 500 undergraduates, 50 master's students, and 50 PhD researchers.
We prioritize creating an outstanding learning experience, offering not just state-of-the-art facilities and world-leading research, but also valuable connections with global industry leaders. Our Industry Liaison Committee, featuring prominent UK and international corporations, actively contributes to curriculum design, student career guidance, and supplemental teaching materials.
Corporate partners play a key role in directing our research and project approaches. Major organizations including BAE Systems, Jennic, Arqiva, Sure, Advantica, Toyota, Sensinode, and Rolls-Royce have worked with us to generate innovative solutions for contemporary industry challenges.
