Our Department of Earth and Environmental Sciences focuses on three primary research areas: planetary and earth sciences, environmental interactions with society, and the history of life on our planet. Fossils and ancient artifacts offer invaluable insights into bygone eras, helping us comprehend how living beings, humans included, have adapted and evolved through environmental shifts over millennia.

Investigations in this field employ anatomical, chemical, and genetic analyses of ancient specimens to explore crucial topics like prehistoric biodiversity trends, major evolutionary developments such as the emergence of flight and upright walking, and the initial genetic alterations in plants during early agricultural practices.
