In 1904, Liverpool became home to the UK's first Institute of Archaeology, creating an academic hub for archaeological methodology alongside Egyptology and Classical Archaeology studies. Liverpool's Egyptology research spans nearly every aspect of the discipline, from material artifacts and linguistic studies to literary texts and the social archaeology of ancient Egypt.
