The Institute of Arab and Islamic Studies operates as an interdisciplinary Area Studies department focused on research and education. Housed in a dedicated facility, it unites experts across anthropology, archaeology, literature, linguistics, political science, history, sociology, and religious studies. Our scholars work collaboratively both within the Institute and through Exeter's academic networks, while also engaging nationally and internationally. The co-location of diverse disciplines, regional expertise, and historical perspectives under one roof significantly enhances our collective scholarly output.
Both faculty members and postgraduate researchers are connected to our specialized research centers, providing platforms to disseminate findings, engage in academic discussions, and contribute to collaborative research initiatives.
