Midwives provide specialized care for mothers throughout pregnancy, childbirth, and postpartum, collaborating with healthcare teams to ensure optimal outcomes for both mother and child.
Aligned with national guidelines, our midwifery program emphasizes personalized, whole-person care through a blend of academic learning and hands-on clinical experience. Graduates will qualify for professional registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC).
A distinctive feature of this program is preparing students to perform Newborn and Infant Physical Examinations (NIPE) upon graduation. New midwives should consult with Practice Development Midwives or the Education team to understand how their workplace will facilitate their transition into NIPE-qualified practitioners.
The curriculum fosters critical thinking and evidence-based practice, meeting all NMC educational standards while reflecting current healthcare policies.
This balanced program combines theoretical instruction with practical training across diverse clinical settings, covering all stages of pregnancy, labor, and postpartum care. Students gain comprehensive understanding of physical, emotional, and social aspects of maternity care to effectively guide families through their parenting journey.
Clinical placements extend beyond traditional midwifery settings to include medical wards, neonatal units, and gynecology departments. The program emphasizes patient-centered care, ensuring women maintain autonomy in healthcare decisions.
Learning methods incorporate lectures, seminars, problem-based learning, independent study, and simulation exercises. Students receive guidance from academic staff, clinical educators, and professional mentors throughout their training.
Course modules cover essential topics including Family-Centered Care, Midwifery Science, Comprehensive Maternity Practice, Proactive Pregnancy Care, Newborn Health Management, and Advancing Midwifery Practice.
