We are dedicated to providing top-tier undergraduate LLB and postgraduate LLM programs. As a research-focused institution, we understand the vital connection between outstanding research and high-quality teaching. Leicester Law School emphasizes research-led education, acknowledging how academic excellence in research enhances teaching standards. Our scholarly work gains international recognition, with faculty members regularly engaging in legal discussions and influencing policy development. Doctoral candidates undertake an autonomous research initiative with support from an advisory team. The maximum enrollment duration before thesis submission is 4 years for full-time students or 7 years for part-time/distance learners. Typically, active research (encompassing experiments, lab work, fieldwork, and data gathering) spans 3 to 3.5 years full-time or 6 to 6.5 years part-time/distance learning. After completing active research, students may apply for a writing-up extension of up to one year. The combined research and writing phases must not surpass the total registration limit. Theses generally should not exceed 80,000 words and must offer novel insights while meeting publishable standards. Finally, candidates must successfully defend their thesis in an oral examination to earn their degree.
