Pursuing a research degree in the Faculty of Biological Sciences allows you to acquire and refine skills as an autonomous investigator in your selected discipline. Guided by your principal supervisor and additional co-supervisors, you'll conduct pioneering research on specific biological challenges while joining a vibrant research network employing cross-disciplinary methods to address contemporary scientific inquiries. During your PhD journey, you'll not only deepen your expertise in your specialized field but also cultivate abilities through structured training initiatives, seminar participation, and conference engagements.
The architecture of biological molecules and their assembled complexes forms the foundation of most biological processes. Consequently, structural biology serves as a fundamental instrument in contemporary biological exploration. Our focus lies in deciphering the configurations of biomolecules including proteins, nucleic acids, carbohydrates, and lipids, along with their composite formations. This field also involves studying molecular dynamics and integrates concepts from molecular biology, biochemistry, biophysics, computational modeling, and simulation.
