Nestled within the Brighton and Lewes Downs UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, bordered by the South Downs National Park, and just a short distance from Brighton and the coastline, this setting provides an ideal environment for biological research. Whether exploring animal behavior or molecular evolution, you'll conduct fieldwork and lab studies under the mentorship of our experienced faculty.
You have the option to pursue either a PhD or MPhil degree. These programs vary in length and the scope of research required.

A PhD requires your research to significantly advance knowledge in your selected field with original contributions.
An MPhil involves independent research at a more introductory level compared to a PhD, culminating in a Master of Philosophy degree. There may be opportunities to transition from an MPhil to a PhD during your studies.
