The University of Central Lancashire excels in Forensic Anthropology and Forensic Taphonomy studies. Our globally recognized faculty leads multiple innovative research initiatives. Our scholars possess diverse specializations, including anatomy, bone structure analysis, genetic and genomic research, -omics fields, microbiome investigations, decomposition processes in humans and animals, injury analysis, and disaster victim recognition. We conduct forensic and taphonomic investigations at our specialized facility called TRACES (Taphonomic Research in Anthropology: Centre for Experimental Studies). This unique 13-acre site serves as an animal decomposition research center where we carry out hands-on decomposition studies.
