Research in the School of Biosciences focuses on investigating biological systems and cellular mechanisms. With a strong emphasis on molecular approaches, our cutting-edge research initiatives work in harmony and enhance our educational programs.
Overview
Our specialized knowledge in areas like biochemistry, microbiology, and biomedical science enables us to leverage advanced technologies and pioneer innovative concepts in genetics, molecular biology, protein studies, biophysics, and computational biology. Our investigations span diverse molecular phenomena, from cellular division and gene expression to molecular machinery, diagnostic techniques, and the development of biotherapeutics and sustainable energy solutions.
Our research programs center on both laboratory experiments and computational studies. Full-time PhD candidates typically complete their research within 3-4 years, while part-time students take 5-6 years. From the outset, all research students concentrate on a specific project while selectively participating in our professional development courses. Each student benefits from guidance by a supervisory panel, including primary advisors and independent chairs who provide objective progress assessments.
