We examine the American experience through a thoughtful, analytical lens, providing an excellent foundation for advanced academic pursuits. Our Center supports diverse American research topics while currently focusing on three key areas: the American West, US Environmental Concerns, and Race, Ethnicity, and Border Studies. With roots dating to 1973, Kent's American Studies program has cultivated a robust research environment over the years, aligning with the University's interdisciplinary approach and the field's mission to innovatively investigate American culture. Our faculty collaborates extensively with research centers and archives across the Americas, and the Templeman Library boasts significant collections on slavery, Indigenous cultures, and visual media studies.
