Our robust partnerships with academic institutions across the UK and worldwide foster an exceptional setting for groundbreaking research. We explore diverse scientific areas, from solar and plasma physics to cosmology and radio astronomy. In solar physics, our focus lies in studying solar flare theories, diagnostics, and observations, while also advancing plasma theory and atmospheric plasma research. We pioneer innovative imaging technologies with potential applications spanning from wall-penetrating vision to quantum microscopy. Our team investigates novel imaging methods across optical and radio-frequency spectra, collaborating with industry partners and medical researchers to implement these advancements in practical scenarios. Key research areas include computational imaging, spectral analysis, and biomedical imaging, with special emphasis on retinal studies.
As a graduate student, you'll join a School dedicated to offering unparalleled academic support. Our Graduate School strives to cultivate an intellectually vibrant atmosphere that empowers students to make cultural, societal, and economic impacts while developing global leadership skills. We participate in the Scottish Universities Physical Alliance (SUPA), a physics research network connecting six Scottish universities (Glasgow, Edinburgh, Heriot-Watt, St. Andrews, Strathclyde, and West of Scotland). Through SUPA's graduate program, Glasgow students gain access to specialized knowledge from all member institutions via comprehensive course offerings.
