Our MA in Translation, Interpreting, and Subtitling stands out as the pioneering program that combines written translation, oral interpretation, and audiovisual subtitling into one comprehensive curriculum. This holistic approach to language services is rigorous yet equips you with specialized skills for freelance or in-house roles across industries like business, film, television, or tourism.
The program pairs English with Arabic, Mandarin, French, German, Italian, Portuguese, or Spanish. Whether you're a native or near-native speaker of any of these languages, you'll develop bidirectional translation proficiency. Through collaboration with native speakers, you'll refine your ability to switch precisely and efficiently between your chosen language and English across diverse scenarios.

Graduates pursue careers in tourism, corporate settings, or global institutions. You'll acquire vital professional competencies including specialized research, targeted writing, translation, interpreting, and subtitling.
Our Department of Language and Linguistics also provides PhD and MPhil supervision. Research areas span language acquisition, teaching methodologies, intercultural communication, psycholinguistics, speech pathology, sociolinguistics, and theoretical linguistics.
