The Extended Master of Arts in Translation and Interpreting (MATI) offers a specialized version of our Professional Translation program, with a strong focus on interpreting. This program transforms highly proficient language speakers into skilled professional linguists. Your advanced translation training will cover general, administrative, and technical texts, along with interpreting practice in sectors like local government, healthcare, law enforcement, and legal settings, while also providing instruction in industry-standard computer-assisted translation tools. The initial phase of the degree allows for specialization in areas such as interpreting, audiovisual translation, machine translation, software localization, terminology management, video production, or digital publishing. Through the translation work experience module, you'll collaborate with local translation firms, simulating real-world translation agency operations by completing professional-level assignments. In the latter part of the program, you can choose between two extended translation projects, an academic thesis, or a 13-week internship with a translation company, either in the UK or abroad.

This career-focused MA in Extended Translation and Interpreting greatly enhances your employment opportunities. During your studies or internship, you may establish valuable professional connections that shape your future career path.
Graduates pursue diverse roles in translation and interpreting, while others continue with research degrees and academic careers.
