Our Master of Arts in Gender and Sexuality Studies offers a cutting-edge, multidisciplinary program housed within the Department of Psychosocial and Psychoanalytic Studies (PPS). This program takes an integrative and intersectional approach, weaving together insights from sociology, psychology, literature, history, political science, human rights, philosophy, and the arts. Throughout this program, you'll develop a solid foundation in the key theories and frameworks central to gender and sexuality studies, while having the flexibility to pursue your specific interdisciplinary research interests through our diverse selection of elective courses from various University departments.
At PPS, we understand that your academic pursuits are often deeply connected to your personal journey and professional goals—a dynamic particularly relevant in Gender and Sexuality studies. Our psychosocial orientation means you'll be guided to examine how gender and sexuality intersect with individual experiences, societal structures, and political systems (including topics like identity formation, social equity, historical contexts, and international relations). You'll work with faculty actively engaged in research that reflects their dedication to the field, with specializations spanning intersectional feminist methodologies, LGBTQ+ advocacy, childhood gender development, male identity studies, sexual health activism, worldwide reproductive rights movements, and human rights issues affecting displaced populations.
