This LLM in Gender, Conflict, and Human Rights leverages the Transitional Justice Institute's renowned research expertise to offer a globally distinguished master's degree. The program is designed to help students: Acquire a comprehensive understanding and critical insight into how women and men experience human rights standards and systems differently, particularly in conflict and post-conflict contexts, Master core gender theory concepts and their application to human rights, international law, and transitional justice, Develop expertise in conducting research projects from conception to completion, Hone abilities to evaluate published and commissioned research critically, Build skills highly valuable for legal practice, as well as gender policy, research, and advocacy positions across voluntary, public, and private sectors in the UK, Ireland, and internationally, Completion may also create opportunities for advanced study and research. Internship placements available with various organizations. Past students have obtained internships with Belfast-based institutions including the Northern Ireland Human Rights Commission, Disability Action (Centre on Human Rights), Human Rights Consortium, Law Centre (NI), and Northern Ireland Council for Ethnic Minorities (NICEM).

Qualification Requirements

A second class Honours degree or above or equivalent recognised qualification in Law, Social Sciences, Humanities or a cognate discipline. Allowance may be made for special qualifications, experience and background, and students with other academic backgrounds will be considered, where applicants can demonstrate their ability to undertake the programme through the accreditation of prior experiential learning (APEL) or accreditation of prior learning (APL).
IELTS 6.0 with no band score less than 5.5., TOEFL iBT - 80 with a minimum L - 17 R - 18 S - 20 W - 17, PTE Academic - 55 (with min. of 51 in each part)
