Our gender and sexuality studies program focuses on the cross-disciplinary examination of gender and sexual identity, a dynamic and expanding academic field. This course is perfect for those curious about how gender and sexuality are shaped, interpreted, and portrayed across various historical periods, cultures, locations, and social settings. We connect social sciences with arts and humanities by providing both MA and MSc options, enabling you to customize your studies.

The MA pathway lets you investigate gender and sexuality through literature, history, media studies, visual arts, philosophy, and cultural analysis.
The MSc pathway focuses on evolving personal relationships, economic systems and employment trends, along with development studies and legal frameworks.
You'll engage with contemporary discussions featuring groundbreaking research from Birkbeck's renowned scholars, who actively collaborate with activists, policymakers, and organizations to promote social justice.
