This program invites you to tackle thought-provoking inquiries about how political, social, and cultural transformations affect individuals, communities, and regions. Spanning topics from African-American enslavement to Soviet-era Russia, from Essex communities to German witch trials, from medical history to Chinese revolutions, we encourage deep historical exploration to illuminate contemporary issues.
The four-year MHist option (extendable to five years with study abroad or placement) builds upon the BA's foundational historical skills while delving into advanced subjects for master's-level accreditation. Undergraduate students enjoy broad module choices covering both local and global themes, alongside specialized postgraduate topics like public history, identity studies, and memory of conflict.
