SOAS History provides students with an exceptionally diverse and intellectually stimulating exploration of Africa, Asia, and the Middle East's captivating past - spanning from the Crusades to modern Middle Eastern affairs, the Mughal dynasty to Gandhi's legacy, and West African Muslim communities to the history of slavery.

Our unique BA History combined degree delivers compelling examinations not just of historical moments and eras across these regions, but also interrogates historical methodology itself. The program's foundation incorporates influential theoretical approaches employed by both scholars and students, including postcolonial and decolonial frameworks. This SOAS program cultivates a globally aware, analytical viewpoint that pushes the boundaries of historical understanding.

The BA History combined degree motivates students to comprehend African, Asian, and Middle Eastern histories through indigenous viewpoints and regional contexts. Through this decolonial approach, learners can connect these regional narratives to global history, gaining critical insights into the past, present, and potential future trajectories.
