The Applied and Computational Mathematics research team integrates specialized knowledge in dynamics, classical and statistical mechanics with cutting-edge computational methods to create solutions for diverse fields including molecular dynamics, geophysical and astrophysical fluid dynamics, and optoelectronics.

Housed within this research group is the School's EPSRC-supported Mathematical Modelling, Analysis and Computation (MAC-MIGS) Centre for Doctoral Training. Prospective students with interests in this domain are highly advised to consider applying for this PhD program.

Qualification Requirements

A UK first class honours degree, or its international equivalent, in an appropriate subject, or a UK 2:1 honours degree plus a UK masters degree, or their international equivalents, or relevant qualifications and experience.

IELTS Academic: total 6.5 with at least 6.0 in each component.
TOEFL-iBT (including Home Edition): total 92 with at least 20 in each component. We do not accept TOEFL MyBest Score to meet our English language requirements.
