This comprehensive dual degree program allows you to master two widely spoken modern languages while exploring their rich cultural backgrounds.

German is the native tongue for over a third of Europeans, while French opens doors to career prospects across Africa and the Americas beyond European borders.

Through immersive language training, including an international year of study, you'll develop advanced proficiency in both French and German, both spoken and written.

Alongside language instruction, you'll examine francophone and German cultural developments spanning from medieval times to the modern era.

The curriculum encompasses literature, visual arts, film, political history, social changes, and philosophical thought.

Pursuing language studies at university level showcases your communication abilities and cultural adaptability - qualities employers recognize as valuable intercultural skills.

This combined degree not only enhances your linguistic capabilities but also deepens your appreciation of diverse societies and traditions.

Earning a four-year Master of Arts from the University of Edinburgh demonstrates intellectual sophistication, adaptability, and perseverance.

Upon graduation, you'll possess marketable skills including the capacity to:

interpret, evaluate, and articulate sophisticated concepts
