This program offers an in-depth exploration of Modern Languages (Arabic and Italian) and English through advanced, research-focused study. Students will develop insights into how knowledge evolves, progresses, and is revitalized. The curriculum fosters independent learning, emphasizing curiosity, precision, academic integrity, and rigorous scholarship. Spanning 48 months, it culminates in a Master of Arts (Honours) degree. Like all St Andrews programs, it consists of credit-based modules, requiring students to complete 480 credits (typically 120 per academic year). The initial two years combine mandatory program-specific courses with elective options (potentially including cross-faculty modules). Subsequent years focus on specialized, research-driven coursework tailored to the program's academic objectives. The first two years blend core program requirements with diverse elective choices (sometimes incorporating modules from other faculties), while later years emphasize advanced research-oriented studies within the discipline.
