This cutting-edge program merges a robust interdisciplinary base with specialized geographical perspectives on global development studies. You'll explore core modules in human and social geography that examine pressing modern challenges through a spatial lens – encompassing poverty, inequality, racial dynamics, public health, population movements, and city growth – with particular emphasis on human-environment interactions and progressive social change. The curriculum includes essential technical training in Geographic Information Systems (GIS), both qualitative and quantitative research methods, complemented by extensive hands-on fieldwork. Field-based learning forms a cornerstone of this program, featuring local excursions integrated into core courses where we collaborate with grassroots organizations. Multiple UK residential field trips are available during your studies.
