This cutting-edge program blends a multidisciplinary foundation with an economic approach to studying international development. Core modules examine pressing modern challenges through an economic viewpoint – covering poverty, inequality, aid, environmental concerns, trade, and globalization – with particular emphasis on how economic disparities emerge and potential solutions to address them. Students will acquire hands-on skills in economic analysis and statistics, mastering fundamental data techniques and specialized software to critically assess macroeconomic and microeconomic issues.
Alongside this economic specialization, the course provides comprehensive knowledge of development frameworks, institutions, and methodologies, integrating perspectives from anthropology and various social sciences like environmental studies, geography, media, and political science. Regional focus modules on sub-Saharan Africa, South Asia, or Latin America allow students to deepen their understanding of specific areas while exploring diverse development viewpoints.
During the third year, students can opt for practical experience through a Placement Year.
The outcome is a highly adaptable degree that can be customized to individual interests, enabling students to merge broad interdisciplinary knowledge with specialized economic expertise in development studies.
