This program merges English studies with Portuguese, a language spoken officially in nine nations worldwide. With growing political significance of countries such as Angola and Brazil, the need for Portuguese speakers continues to rise. The curriculum provides a stimulating academic journey filled with intellectual rigor and diverse elective choices to cater to individual interests.
Enrolled students will benefit from two departments featuring leading scholars across numerous disciplines, fostering the development of subject-specific expertise and research capabilities while examining interdisciplinary connections.
Participants will analyze diverse texts within their societal, political, and historical frameworks while honing exceptional analytical and communication abilities in both English and Portuguese.
The program includes systematic Portuguese language instruction alongside exploration of Lusophone literature, film, history, philosophy, politics, and visual arts. A mandatory third-year immersion in a Portuguese-speaking country enhances linguistic proficiency and cultural understanding.
